Here’s a quick guide to the most common types of soles used in formal shoes:
1. TPR Sole (Thermo Plastic Rubber)
Best For: Comfort & Flexibility
TPR soles offer a perfect blend of rubber and plastic properties, providing excellent grip, flexibility, and shock absorption. They’re lightweight, water-resistant, and ideal for all-day office wear.
2. EVA Sole (Ethylene Vinyl Acetate)
Best For: Ultra-Lightweight Comfort
EVA soles are known for their feather-light feel and superior cushioning. While they may wear faster on rough surfaces, they are perfect for those looking for lightweight, stylish, and easy-to-wear formal shoes.
3. PU Sole (Polyurethane)
Best For: Long-Term Durability
PU soles are slightly heavier than EVA but offer better abrasion resistance and longevity. They're commonly used in premium formal footwear and are ideal for daily professional use.
4. Rubber Sole
Best For: Grip & Weather Resistance

5. Air Mix Sole
Mostly Used To Cut Production Costs
Air Mix is a budget-friendly sole material often used by mass-market brands to reduce manufacturing expenses. While cheaper than TPR, it comes with compromises: medium durability, poor grip, and less comfort. At Dusk N Dazzling, we consciously avoid using Air Mix to ensure our customers receive only high-performing and long-lasting footwear.
6. Leather Sole (Not used in our vegan products)
While traditional leather soles are found in luxury formal shoes, they’re not aligned with our 100% vegan promise. We use high-quality synthetic alternatives that replicate the feel and sophistication of leather without harming animals.
